Back to glossary

What does it mean?

The last accepted time for a required shipment step, such as delivering cargo or submitting documentation for a departure. Cargo, documentation and other operational requirements can have separate cutoffs.

In practice

Missing the cargo cutoff can prevent a shipment from traveling on the planned sailing.

Before requesting a quote

For ocean freight, the space your cargo occupies and the receiving schedule influence the shipping arrangement. Confirm whether you need shared or dedicated container capacity, and specify if your request covers the ports only or also pickup and final delivery. Packaging and stackability help define the handling required.

  • Total package count, dimensions and gross weight
  • Pickup and delivery locations or named ports
  • Cargo ready date, stackability and any special handling

Ready to apply this to your shipment? Share your route and cargo details so our team can review your requirements.
