Back to glossary

What does it mean?

Moving goods with more than one transport mode while keeping the cargo in the same loading unit during the transfer. A container can move between vessel, train and truck without unpacking its contents at each connection.

In practice

A sealed container travels by sea and then continues inland by rail and truck.

Before requesting a quote

Ground transport planning depends on more than the distance between two addresses. Pickup and delivery appointments, loading docks and unloading equipment affect the service scope. State whether you need dedicated truck capacity or a shared shipment, and confirm the cargo can be handled at both locations.

  • Pickup and delivery addresses and access conditions
  • Pallet count, dimensions, weight and stackability
  • Dock availability, unloading needs and appointments

Ready to apply this to your shipment? Share your route and cargo details so our team can review your requirements.
