What does it mean?
An Incoterms® rule for sea or inland waterway transport where the seller pays carriage and arranges the required insurance to the named destination port. Risk transfers on board at origin, rather than when goods arrive at destination.
In practice
The buyer distinguishes the port covered by freight payment from the point where cargo risk transfers.
Before requesting a quote
Before comparing freight quotations, identify the agreed delivery rule and the exact named place or port. Explain which transport stages you need included and who coordinates the other stages. This helps separate the freight request from the obligations already agreed between buyer and seller.
- Agreed delivery rule, edition and named place or port
- Transport stages to include in the quotation
- Cargo details, origin, destination and ready date
