What does it mean?
The currently expected arrival time of a vessel, flight, vehicle or shipment at a named point. An ETA is a planning estimate that can change as operating conditions and schedules are updated.
In practice
A vessel ETA helps an importer plan receiving, but does not confirm when cargo will be available for pickup.
Before requesting a quote
A clear shipment plan starts with consistent information. Describe what you are moving, where it will be collected and who will receive it. Separating the transport stages helps you compare quotations with the same scope and identify any handling that must be coordinated separately.
- Origin, destination and receiving contact
- Cargo description, package count and dimensions
- Gross weight and preferred shipping dates
