Back to glossary

What does it mean?

The currently expected departure time from a named origin or intermediate point. It helps coordinate cargo readiness and connections, but it should be distinguished from the actual recorded departure.

In practice

An exporter works backward from the vessel ETD to schedule cargo delivery before the cutoff.

Before requesting a quote

A clear shipment plan starts with consistent information. Describe what you are moving, where it will be collected and who will receive it. Separating the transport stages helps you compare quotations with the same scope and identify any handling that must be coordinated separately.

  • Origin, destination and receiving contact
  • Cargo description, package count and dimensions
  • Gross weight and preferred shipping dates

Ready to apply this to your shipment? Share your route and cargo details so our team can review your requirements.
