What does it mean?

The party identified as sending the cargo in the transport documentation. The shipper provides shipment details and prepares or arranges the goods for collection; it may be the seller, a manufacturer or another authorized party.

In practice

The supplier appears as shipper on the transport document for the goods it dispatches.

Before requesting a quote

A clear shipment plan starts with consistent information. Describe what you are moving, where it will be collected and who will receive it. Separating the transport stages helps you compare quotations with the same scope and identify any handling that must be coordinated separately.

  • Origin, destination and receiving contact
  • Cargo description, package count and dimensions
  • Gross weight and preferred shipping dates
