What does it mean?
The expected duration between two specified points in a shipment journey. Port-to-port transit and total door-to-door time measure different stages, so the start and end points should always be stated.
In practice
A sea transit estimate excludes warehouse receiving and final delivery unless those stages are expressly included.
Before requesting a quote
A clear shipment plan starts with consistent information. Describe what you are moving, where it will be collected and who will receive it. Separating the transport stages helps you compare quotations with the same scope and identify any handling that must be coordinated separately.
- Origin, destination and receiving contact
- Cargo description, package count and dimensions
- Gross weight and preferred shipping dates
