What does it mean?
An aircraft container or a pallet and net assembly used to group and secure cargo for flight. Compatibility depends on the aircraft and equipment type, so an ordinary warehouse pallet is not automatically an aircraft ULD.
In practice
An airport handling team builds compatible cargo into an aircraft ULD before loading.
